"Wake up Baba..........."
Rachel has had her nap and very much did not want to go to sleep. She wanted to go to the Big Lolo (she calls water lolo) which is the ocean. After a good cry she passed out. But, now she's wide awake and wants her Baba to wake up and to go......................NOW!!!
The Beach Destroyer & the Baba
Rachel loves for her Baba to build sand castles. But, what she mostly loves to do is to destroy them as Baba is building them. I love this set. If you look closely or double click to enlarge this collage - you'll see her squatting over one of his pillars and then flattening it in another. Note the contentment & happy dance that she does after he scolds her and she seems so remorseful...................NOT!
The Beach, the Princess and the Baba
Rachel loves her Baba especially when at the beach. He feeds her fruit til she's about to pop and she does the food dance as in these pictures when she's happy. Come to think about it - so does her Baba when he's happy with his food too :)
What a day!
Princess was out just on the 10 minute drive to eat dinner. Here we're waiting for our table. Someone is very much in love with her Baba these days. It's pretty mutual. He jumps out of the car to get her out of her car seat. And these days - she's pretty content to be in his arms - as you can see here.
A toast to one year as a family at last!
After Rachel learned how to give a toast - she insisted that we toast before every sip throughout dinner.............lesson? Watch what you wish for...................... This Italian restaurant was out over the water at the Ventura Harbor. What a view and what a wonderful evening.
It's a love/fear kinda thing
Rachel looooves the carousel - but is aso very afraid that she will fall off. She goes around saying over and over "I fall doooowwwn." And this Mommy constantly tells her that Mommy has her baby and nothing will happen.
Blurry - but not on the insides
I debated on whether I should put this photo in or not - due to the quality. Rachel loves music! We were walking along the boardwalk and there was this band playing in this Mexican restaurant on the water. The dance floor was very tiny. She stopped us here outside of the restaurant's opening where the band & dance floor was visible. There was not one drop of liquid courage in either of us - but we had - I can promise you more of a good time than any of the others out on this tiny dance floor. This Mommy closed her eyes and listened to the music and felt this tiny heartbeat against hers while we danced. Rachel loves for me to hold her while I dance............we do this a lot around the house. She clung on so tightly I think because the music was a little loud - but she didn't want me to go. When I would head towards the door - she would grab on and say "No!". So, blurry or not - these to these two hearts everything is very clear............we're home at last in each others arms.
The Red Blanket
Baba remembered this book as we were packing. We ordered it for Rachel before we first held her even. It tells her story. It is about a woman who adopts a little girl and before traveling to China to get her lil Pan Pan - she purchases this red blanket that she saw in a department store. Red symbolizes China. This Mommy worked on crocheting this blanket for Rachel before, on the actual plane ride to and while in China. How fitting that I finished the blanket while there - our journey to Rachel had finally ended as well. I lhope that she will have & cherish this blanket all of her life and maybe even hand it down to my grandchildren.
Breakfast is for the birds................
Every morning was a struggle for this Mommy and Baba. Princess could care less about the wonderful and included buffet breakfast and made to order grill, endless supply of coffee, fresh fruit....... All she wanted was the SWIMMIN POOOOOOL. But, feeding the birds her uneaten muffin was a close second - that is when she wasn't nailing the passerbyers with her muffin. Baba got a chest full most times. We think we're gonna see how she does as softball in the very near future.
ANOTHER great day!!
What I wished that I would've gotten a photo of was Baba (Tim) dancing out here with his Princess with no one else around but Rachel and her Baba. Of course this Baba would dance with his girl ANYWHERE ....................
Gotta get my groove on..........
At the end of a very good Gotcha Day mini vacation - Rachel danced some more to the poolside band. Taking an ocassional break for snacks and Mommy & Baba loving. Then it was off to the car and onto the road - where Princess of course barely made it out of the parking deck before she was fast asleep. What a GREAT trip!
