Watching Rachel Grow

Monday in Guangzhou

Today we walked to a local photo shop and had our pictures taken. Amazing the photographer could even crop out every one's tears. Luckily Rachel did not cry through the photo - but she sure has through others. Then we walked to the Clinic for our physical examinations - just another link in the chain closer to home. The clinic was full of singing (crying) babies and Rachel definitely joined in. But before any of this we went to this local shop and picked up Rachel's Jade Buddha for her when she is older. Rachel was/is still not feeling well, so we cry and don't sleep well. We went out for a stroll thru the White Swan and to ck on our reservations for tomorrows check in and found a slight problem. Somehow there was a communication breakdown between Heartsent and ourselves as to how many nights we were supposed to stay at the Victory and at the White Swan. We were very anxious unfortunately to check out of the Victory because of renovations that were going on 24/7 and they were fumigating and the odor of mosquito repellent was very strong in our room and our throats were beginning to get sore as a result we think (or we're coming down w/ what Princess has). But to make matters worse - the White Swan would not let us make or change the reservation for our designated last 4 nights instead of the two w/o Heartsent's approval. And back in the states it was Monday (Labor day morning) morning and too early to get in touch w/ anyone. I got no sleep due to Rachel's fever and crying and being totally inconsolable. We placed many calls into HAi and finally in the morning Dick from HAI called us and told Baba that all was arranged. I had heard that he was the "fixer" and that he did! Thank you so very very very much if you (Dick) and Val are keeping up w/ this blog. I'm getting ahead of myself and will give details as to our ck in and this BEAUTIFUL Hotel tomorrow...............................ie in a few hours :)

It seems that "Red" is also a famous actress and performer here in China. She showed us articles of her from 1997 and etc.
This little shop close to the hotel will not be open much longer - is moving to airport. This is daughter and Mother. The Mother whose american name is "Red" works at jewelry store in White Swan and sold us our precious buddha for us to give to Rachel for college graduation or wedding gift. Very special women and we have grown very fond of them in such a short time.
