Watching Rachel Grow

Sunday in Guangzhou

Hello,

Wishing you were here...........................so that you could hear Princess Rachel performing her opera for us here in our room. One minute we're content and the next - we're inconsolable. We decided to keep today a low key one to allow Rachel to rest up some. We did of course go out for breakfast. Out being only in the Hotel restaurant. We had planned to go visit the zoo today but due to Rachel and the other babies not feeling very well - we cancelled. We had made an appointment yesterday w/ a young girl who works in one of the many shops all around us designed for new Adoptee parents and to of course give "special deal to you". She supposedly knew someone who sold Grade A jade and for "special discount". There are many grades of jade (jade is the Asian diamond) for example A,B,C, and etc. The quality declines as the letters progress. And you need to request a certificate validating the quality of the item you're purchasing. We went to a jade market the day before yesterday but Baba got very angry w/ everyone following him around trying to force him to buy. All he asked was to be left alone for a minute to look and in two seconds someone if not 2 or 3 were right over his shoulder forcing something in his face. He shut down and said "no more"! But, today was very different. We found the PERFECT grade A jade Buddha w/ happy face and framed in 18 kt gold w/ even tiny a butterfly in one corner and most importantly with absolutely NO PRESSURE. And since her room is decorated in primarily butterflies - this was the one! We plan to give it to her either for her college graduation or as as a marriage gift. Mama even got a jade bangle to boot (Baba in a good mood).

In a couple of days we change hotels and go to the White Swan which is famous for new Adoptees staying in w/ their lil China dolls. We do very much like our room here at the Victory but - there is construction all around and even here in the hotel and they are "spurting mosquito medicament" as the sign in the lobby says and it smells strongly here of either raid &/or mold. Each room is different tho. There is one couple of women staying in one room that is newly decorated and we're told in like a Japanese design.

Bye for now,

Mom

Hey Mama and Baba:
This is Aunt Judy. I am proud to see you have arrived and now have your baby girl. Normal pregnancies are 9 months, but it appears yours has lasted a great dealer longer making anticipation nearly unbearable. In any case, congratulations!
