Watching Rachel Grow

Writing in the middle of the day while my son and daughter sleep :)

Pleasant dreams to you over seas sleeping. Well, between the time I typed in the title of this blog - my youngest woke up - I think Baba's snoring woke her. So far she does not snore :) Today was filled w/ paperwork again - but early so that we could return to the room and rest and enjoy our most precious souvenir from China. Rachel slept all through the night in her crib and unfortunately Mom had to wake her and Baba for an early start back to the Civil affairs office. Seems like yesterday the Orphanage director and nannies were tired and hungry after their 6 hour drive to GZ - so after we got our babies - they left and we returned today to do the delivering of the money, gifts, and more signing. Breakfast was a hit and most of the day too. Rachel did have a melt down this morning during getting ready. Last night - she was what we call "shut down". It's sort of like to her being "abducted by aliens" Baba says. So, they shut down and show no emotion. Rachel is a very serious girl anyway - very guarded and has such an intense stare. Every (very rare) once in while we get a hint of a smile - but not a full one as of yet(she's holding out on us) . Today was much better and she has been much more interactive and searches the room for one of us if one is missing. Everyone comments on how exotic her eyes are compared to most. She loves her stacking cups the most and eats EVERYTHING. Later on - we are going to take her out for a stroll in the stroller that the hotel has provided. This hotel is WONDERFUL and very equipped and prepared for all of us adoptees. Mom has lost quite a bit of weight and her pants are falling off (literally) - so we're off very soon for some lightweight skirts/sarongs and squeaky shoes.

And I took someones advice from our agency and bought some jade jewelry to hand down to Rachel when she is older to give maybe even to her daughter and wore it to our receiving her. Thanks for the advice - I was very emotional even purchasing it.

We are trying to call - but not having success w/ the time change and all. We will try to call very soon. It just may be while you're sleeping :)

Love and Hugs,

Mom GZ time = 3:50 pm
